The 10 Most Romantic Restaurants in Bangkok
Ten Bangkok rooms built for two, from a two-star dining room over the Chao Phraya to a private glasshouse at Asiatique and a terrace facing Wat Arun, with what dinner costs, the table to ask for and how far ahead to book. Updated September 2026.
In short
Ten rooms in Bangkok built for two, ranked by the kind of evening they give you rather than by price, each with what dinner costs, the table to request and the booking rule that catches couples out. Checked against each restaurant's published information and the MICHELIN Guide Thailand 2026 in September 2026.
Reserve a tableThe most romantic restaurants in Bangkok are the ones that get the table right before the food arrives: Anne-Sophie Pic at Le Normandie for two MICHELIN stars over the Chao Phraya, Ojo on the 76th floor of King Power Mahanakhon, Sirocco in the open air beside the golden dome, Elements, inspired by Ciel Bleu at The Okura Prestige, and Bisou on Soi Langsuan, named Best Date Night at the Lifestyle Asia Best Bites Awards 2026. Ten rooms follow, each with the price of dinner, the table to ask for, and the booking rule that catches couples out.
We plan a few hundred of these evenings a year at Bisou, so this is written the way we would tell a friend: what the room actually feels like at 8 PM, not what the photographs promise. Prices, hours and dress codes were checked against each restaurant's own published information in September 2026, and MICHELIN status against the MICHELIN Guide Thailand 2026.
What makes a Bangkok restaurant romantic
A romantic restaurant in Bangkok is one where you can hear each other talk, where you can request a particular table by name, and where nobody moves you on after dessert. Height, water and greenery do most of the work in this city, so the ten rooms below sort into four kinds of evening: rooms over the river, rooms in the sky, rooms in a garden, and rooms that simply feel private.
Two practical notes before you book. First, the printed price is not the bill: menus at this level quote before a 10 percent service charge and 7 percent VAT, written ++ or +++, and the VAT is applied after the service charge, so the real addition is 17.7 percent. We wrote out the whole arithmetic in what a dinner actually costs in Bangkok. Second, the good tables are finite: window seats, terrace seats and private pavilions are assigned, not guaranteed, so request them when you book and again when you arrive.
The 10 rooms, compared
Dinner per person, checked against each restaurant's own published information in September 2026. Figures marked ++ are before the usual 10 percent service charge and 7 percent VAT.

1. Anne-Sophie Pic at Le Normandie, two stars over the river
Anne-Sophie Pic at Le Normandie is the most special-occasion dinner in Bangkok: two MICHELIN stars in the Thailand 2026 guide, in a room that has served French food above the Chao Phraya at the Mandarin Oriental since 1958. The seven-course Voyage menu is 9,000 THB++ per person.
Le Normandie reopened on 20 September 2025 after a redesign by the Monaco studio Humbert & Poyet, in golden beige tones built around sweeping floor-to-ceiling windows over the river, and the guide promoted it from one star to two in November 2025. Head chef Tamaki Kobayashi runs it day to day, cooking Anne-Sophie Pic's aromatic style, and the dish couples remember is her Brittany blue lobster with red-fruit dashi. Pic closes her own menu with a line that suits the room: "cooking for the ones you love is the most beautiful proof of love."
Ask Le Normandie for a window table when you book, not when you arrive. Anne-Sophie Pic at Le Normandie serves dinner Wednesday to Sunday, 6:30 PM to 11:30 PM with last orders at 9 PM, closed Monday and Tuesday. Elegant attire is required, a jacket is compulsory for men at dinner and can be lent on request, and the dress code extends to children over seven. With only eight two-star restaurants in the whole country, reserve weeks ahead. mandarinoriental.com
2. Ojo, the city from the 76th floor
Ojo is the highest restaurant in Thailand, on the 76th floor of King Power Mahanakhon, and the MICHELIN Guide's own advice is to request a table by the window or on the open-air terrace. Contemporary Mexican cooking from chef Francisco "Paco" Ruano, MICHELIN Selected in the Thailand 2026 guide.
The Ojo dining room is pink and gold with a crystal bar shaped like a tiara, which sounds like a lot and works. The restaurant publishes a two-course sunset dinner with a signature drink at 1,500 THB++ per person, served daily 5:30 PM to 7 PM, which is both the cheapest way in and the right hour to be there: the city goes orange, then blue, then electric, and you watch the whole change from one table. À la carte runs well above that.
Ojo catches people out in three ways. The tower entrance has airport-style screening and refuses bags larger than 25 by 25 by 10 centimetres, tables are held only 15 minutes past the reservation, and window or terrace seats are assigned on availability, so ask at booking. Book through TableCheck. The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon
3. Sirocco, dinner in the open air
Sirocco is Bangkok's open-air dinner: tables on the terrace at the dome of State Tower, under the sky rather than behind glass, with the bend of the Chao Phraya below. The six-course Mediterranean tasting menu is 6,500 THB++ per person, so budget roughly 8,000 THB once service and VAT are added.
A live jazz band plays at Sirocco Tuesday to Sunday, with recorded music on Mondays, beside the illuminated golden dome, and the restaurant runs from 5:30 PM to 12:30 AM, so a couple can take the first seating for sunset and stay for the band. Chef Brian Rodriguez cooks Andalusia, Provence and the Levant.
Two warnings about Sirocco. It is genuinely open air, so a storm changes the evening. And the booking terms are strict: a deposit is required and forfeited if you cancel within 72 hours, with full prepayment on Valentine's Day and New Year's Eve. Dress is smart elegant, with a collared shirt and long trousers for men, no shorts or flip-flops. lebua.com
4. Elements, inspired by Ciel Bleu, the room the guide calls ideal for a date
Elements, inspired by Ciel Bleu holds one MICHELIN star on the 25th floor of The Okura Prestige, and the MICHELIN Guide describes the room, with its open kitchen, oversized light fittings and charcoal walls, as "ideal for a date". Tasting journeys run about 3,700 to 7,300 THB per person before service and VAT.
Elements is the sister restaurant of two-star Ciel Bleu in Amsterdam, with chef Gerard Villaret Horcajo cooking contemporary French with Japanese influences in full view of the tables, floor-to-ceiling windows and the skyline behind. Time Out Bangkok, in its romantic roundup updated April 2026, calls it "a bonafide destination for romance".
Elements serves dinner only, Wednesday to Sunday, 6 PM to 10:30 PM with last orders at 9:30 PM, closed Monday and Tuesday. Smart casual, no shorts or sleeveless shirts. Online bookings can take 24 hours to confirm, so call the hotel for anything same-day. okurabangkok.com
5. Bisou, the room that won Best Date Night
Bisou on Soi Langsuan was named Best Date Night at the inaugural Lifestyle Asia Best Bites Awards 2026, decided by more than 10,000 readers' votes across 194 nominated restaurants in 14 categories. Bisou is a modern French restaurant, plated to share, MICHELIN Selected in the Thailand 2025 and 2026 guides. The five-course signature sharing menu is 3,400 THB per person, 4,002 THB once service and VAT are added.
We built the room for two. There is a wall of kisses behind the banquette, low light, a spiral staircase, and a menu written for two pairs of hands: a beef Wellington carved at your table, a whole seabass in salt crust flambéed in front of you, truffle French toast to start, a 72 percent chocolate soufflé to finish. The MICHELIN inspectors' line reads: "Bisou delivers sexy simplicity through modern French cuisine, prioritising premium ingredients."
The Bisou evening has a shape worth knowing. From 5:30 to about 8 PM the room is calm and the conversation is easy; later the music lifts and the bar becomes part of the night. Tell us which of the two you want when you book and we will seat you accordingly, and say if it is a birthday or an anniversary: the birthday dessert plate is on the house and there is no cakeage if you bring your own cake. Walk-ins are welcome when there is room, though Friday and Saturday are better booked. Two minutes from BTS Chit Lom, dinner nightly 5:30 PM to midnight. Everything else is in our guide to Bisou and on the menu.
6. Mia, the dark room upstairs
Mia holds one MICHELIN star in a converted two-storey house off Sukhumvit 26, and the room to ask for is the dark one upstairs. Mia serves a single seasonal tasting menu; expect roughly 6,000 to 8,000 THB per person once service and VAT are added, and confirm the current price when you book, because the restaurant no longer publishes it.
The MICHELIN Guide describes a chic bar downstairs and three distinct little dining rooms above: one papered in William Morris prints, one filled with tropical plants, and one dark and intimate. That third room is the reason Mia belongs on this list. Chefs Michelle Goh and Pongcharn "Top" Russell cook one continuous menu signed by both of them, so the evening is a single unhurried sequence rather than a series of decisions.
Book Mia ahead online, and check the opening days the week you go: the official site currently shows dinner Friday to Tuesday, 5 PM to 9 PM, while older listings still say Tuesday to Sunday. Vegetarian and vegan tasting menus are available on request. BTS Phrom Phong. miarestaurantbkk.com
7. Paii, dinner in a mansion garden
Paii sets its tables in the courtyard garden of The House on Sathorn, a late-1880s neo-classical mansion that served as the Russian embassy from 1948 to 1999 and is now a protected monument. The three-course Paii Experience is 3,850 THB++ per person, or 5,850 THB++ with wine pairing.
Paii cooks modern Thai seafood: Choo-Chee Maine lobster, clay-baked giant mud crab, the kind of plates two people take apart together. Come at golden hour, when the late light falls across the courtyard and the cream-yellow facade of the mansion glows. BK Magazine's Valentine's list for 2026 singled out the garden dinner here, with live music and a wine paired to each course, though that pairing was a 14 February event rather than a nightly fixture. The garden itself is year-round.
Paii is open daily, noon to 11 PM with last orders at 10:30 PM, smart casual. It is five minutes on foot from BTS Chong Nonsi, and worth booking well ahead for a weekend evening. paiibangkok.com
8. The Crystal Grill House, a glasshouse to yourselves
The Crystal Grill House has five private glass pavilions in a garden on the Chao Phraya at Asiatique, and a couple can book one to themselves: the Tang or the Susa, each seating up to four, with a minimum spend of 8,000 THB++. À la carte otherwise runs roughly 2,000 to 3,500 THB++ per person for food.
The pavilions are named after the countries that traded with Siam in the early 1900s, Liberty Bell, Mukul, Susa, Tang and Edo, and the alfresco wooden terrace outside them sits on the river boardwalk opposite the Sirimahannop tall ship, near the Ferris wheel. The Crystal Grill House cooks steaks and seafood over a charcoal Josper grill, run by the team from the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen's Park.
Getting to The Crystal Grill House is half the evening: take BTS Saphan Taksin to Sathorn Pier and the free Asiatique shuttle boat, ten minutes up the river at dusk. A private pavilion needs a non-refundable 5,000 THB deposit and 24 hours' notice to cancel. Open daily 4:30 PM to midnight, last food orders 10:30 PM, corkage 1,000 THB a bottle. thecrystalgrillhouse.com
9. Bitterman, a greenhouse off Sala Daeng
Bitterman is the affordable romantic dinner in central Bangkok: a two-storey glasshouse full of tropical plants a few steps off Sala Daeng, with mains around 480 to 550 THB. Time Out Bangkok included it in its most romantic restaurants roundup updated on 1 April 2026.
Bitterman pairs an outdoor garden with a glass-walled room, so you choose air or greenery, and chef Napon Pattarapong cooks Mediterranean seafood and Italian-leaning comfort food: grilled octopus at 550 THB, salmon at 480 THB, a Valentine's set for two at 3,500 THB when it runs. For a first date in the middle of the city, at a price that does not turn the evening into a statement, it is the easiest booking on this list.
Bitterman is open daily 11 AM to 11 PM, casual dress, no long lead time needed, and holds tables 30 minutes past the reservation. BTS Sala Daeng or MRT Si Lom. bittermanbkk.com
10. Tha Arun, dinner facing Wat Arun
Tha Arun puts terrace tables directly opposite Wat Arun across the river, and runs a dedicated sunset session from 5 PM to 7:15 PM, timed for the golden hour on the temple. Mains are 255 to 360 THB, so dinner for two lands under 1,000 THB.
Time Out Bangkok named Tha Arun in the romantic list published 1 April 2026 for exactly that view: the temple silhouette, the river traffic, and the light going down behind the prang. Inside, if the terrace is full, the room is antique furniture, mirrors and green velvet curtains. The menu is modern Thai with cocktails, and nobody is pretending the food is the reason you came.
Book Tha Arun by phone and ask, in this order, for the sunset session and an outdoor table facing Wat Arun. MRT Sanam Chai, then a short walk to Tha Tien. Open daily, roughly 11 AM to 10 PM. Tha Arun
Best Date Night 2026, and a table for two
Modern French, plated to share, two minutes from BTS Chit Lom. Dinner nightly from 5:30 PM, and the birthday plate is on the house.
